I have been organizing golf tournaments for Saint Mary's College at Discovery Bay Country Club since 1996. During this time I have found Discovery Bay personnel to be thoroughly professional and knowledgeable. In the crucial planning period prior to tournaments the staff has been devoted to making sure that every detail is attended to. As a result, each of our events has been flawlessly executed and I have had nothing but positive comments from our golfers.

It is with extreme pleasure that we recommend the Discovery Bay Golf Course and Country Club to organizations looking for a premiere location for a golf tournament.

The Discovery Bay Country Club has been the setting for the Annual Tom Torlakson Golf Tournament for the past 5 years. The course is challenging with greens and fairways beautifully manicured.

We look forward to working with the staff each year. The make the planning and coordination of the tournament easy and pleasurable. They are courteous, professional, detail-oriented and committed to ensuring our tournament runs smoothly. The staff takes special care to ensure the tournament is enjoyable for all the participants, the volunteers and campaign staff.

The Discovery Bay Club staff caters to our golfers - from registration, to "lunch-at-the-turn" to the awards dinner. The tournament has been so successful and enjoyable that we begin to receive calls as early as January from participants inquiring about the date of the next tournament, traditionally held in October.

The Port of Oakland has held four golf tournaments at Discovery Bay Country Club starting in 1997. We will hold our fifth golf tournament in 2001. The Port hosts these tournaments for our aviation, maritime and commercial real estate customers. The purpose is to thank our customers for their support and to foster continued good working relationships.

When we decided almost five years ago to establish and annual golf tournament as a way to express our appreciation to our customers base, we had to decide on an appropriate golf course to hold our tournament. Based on a recommendation from another organizer of golf tournaments we contacted Discovery Bay for a proposal and a tour of their facilities.

We could not have been more pleased. Discovery Bay offered a comprehensive package of services at a competitive cost. Of Course, it was not until our first tournament that we were really convinced that Discovery Bay would become our annual tournament site. Scott Smith, Golf Director, and his staff delivered on everything they promised. The facilities and services are excellent. And there is constant attention to detail. Clearly, Discovery Bay is committed to offering golf tournament packages that is difficult for any other golf course to compete with.

More than anything else, however, was the positive comments we received from our customers that convinced us to make Discovery Bay our annual tournament site. The quality of the course, facilities, organization, food service and the friendly and helpful staff were mentioned most frequently during our post-tournament inquiries to our customers.
